Hakea salicifolia

A shrub or small tree. The inset shows how the fruits of this tree develop. At Tumbi Wetlands we have found one burnt-out skeleton of a tree still carrying a few of these fruits, surrounded for up to 20 to 30 metres, by a sprinkling of seedlings like the one pictured, all consistent in size with germination after the fire in December 2005.
