Native Sarsparilla

Smilax glyciphylla

This plant is a robust woody vine that can have stems several metres long. Beside the attachment point for the leaves there are coiling tendrils, up to 8 cm long.
This is a young plant that has not yet flowered, but when it does it should produce bunches of small berries, that change from red to almost black. as they ripen.
