Allocasuarina torulosa / Forest Oak

In the Sydney basin area – this is small tree which grows to about 8 metres. Its drooping grey-green foliage is made up of fine branchlets less than 0.5mm in diameter. The branchlets (see upper left insert) of this tree are distinguished by the 04) teeth surrounding the junction between two of its parts: also they are square in section rather than round. As you can see in the insert (lower right) the bark is deeply fissured. Created: 05/29/2008
