Bacopa monnieri / Bacopa or Brahmi

This is a quite succulent ground cover plant. It grows well in muddy soil with roots developing at the nodes on contact with the soil. The flowers are white to pale blue. At Tumbi Wetlands it was found flowering in 03/2011 – only after a large pile of exotic weeds was removed from a storm water drain. It is a plant that is cosmopolitan and has been known in India for over 3000 years. It has been part of a natural medicine system and is now being looked at by modern medicine. 03/9/2011
