Baumea rubiginosa / Soft Twig – rush
At the left of this photo you see some parts of a dried specimen: the top of a culm carrying the seeds and on the right – part of the root system showing a new shoot emerging from the short stout rhizome. This is a common sedge at Tumbi Wetlands – growing up to a metre tall – with leaves being taller than the seed-bearing culms. It is found in all Australian states specially – near the coast.
