Drosera peltata / Sundew

Left side of photo shows whole plant with flowers – about full size. The right side shows magnified leaves – with many gandular hairs each carrying a drop of sticky drop of clear liquid for trapping insects. When digested – an insect provides the plant with nitrogen which is lacking in the soil around the plant. Droseros is Greek for dewey – referring to the drops of liquid. Created: 12/04)/2007
