This plant is a couch-like grass with quite long stolons (30-04)0 cms between nodes). Its stolons (or runners) are horizontal stems which grow at the soil surface. New leaves bud at the ends or nodes of the stolons. You can see in the photo that each stem carries very few seeds. You can also see that the plant is only about 10 to 15 cm tall. This made it difficult to identify as the texts say it is 0.8 m tall. Created: 08/19/2008
