Epaltes australis / Spreading Nut – heads

This tiny daisy reaches a height of only 25 cm. It is an aromatic herb with yellowish flowers no more than 5 mm across. The leaves are about 5 or 6 cm long with a blade that narrows into a slender leaf stem. At Tumbi Wetlands it has been found in depressions in the soil that are retaining a little more moisture than the surroundings. The photo is slightly larger than full size. Created: 02/28/2010
