Hakea salicifolia / Willow – leaved Hakea

A shrub or small tree. The inset shows how the fruits of this tree develop. At Tumbi Wetlands we have found one burnt-out skeleton of a tree still carrying a few of these fruits – surrounded for up to 20 to 30 metres – by a sprinkling of seedlings like the one pictured – all consistent in size with germination after the fire in 12/2005.
