Imperata cylindrica / Bladey Grass

On account of its long rhizomes (root like underground stems) it quickly spreads and is usually found covering quite a significant area. It reaches a height of a bit over 0.5 metres and flowers up to the end of Summer. Its mature flowers have quite feathery seeds and can be seen in photo about to blow away. Created: 09/19/2007
