Ischaemum australe var. australe / a swampland grass

The first time this grass was found it was growing as a dense monoculture beside almost permanent water. The specimen photographed was in a stand of individual plants fairly close – but quite individual in sandy loam on a slight slope. It grows to a height of 1.2 metres – and has a narrow seed head up to 8 cm long as shown in adjoining photo. Created: 04/28/2011
