Isolepis inundata / Swamp Club – sedge

The photo is of a herbarium sheet showing the slender – tufted perennial – sometimes with very short rhizomes. Often proliferating i.e. developing roots and leaves from the flower – vegetatively as shown in the inset. Seed stems are 5 – 50 cm high – to 1 mm diam. Leaves are reduced to a blade to 6 cm long. Spikelets 3 – 15 per inflorescence or rarely a solitary spikelet – 2 – 6 mm long. Created: 05/27/2009
