Lachnagrostis filiformis / Blown Grass

Called Blown Grass because as the flower dies single units of the flower break off and blow considerable distances – often piling up on obstacles. Initially the filaments of the flower arrangement are wrapped up in the sheath of a leaf as shown in the sketch. Created: 09/18/2007
