Parsonsia straminea / Monkey Rope or Silkpod
An robust vine which twines through the understorey and into the tree tops having leaves up to 20 cm long. Seeds that float through the air are formed in a long cylindrical pod which will open to allow hunderds of seeds to float away on a hot summer day. Young seedlings (insert lower right) are hardly recognisable as the same plant with leaves ony 1 to 5 cm long. Created: 10/19, 2007
